Press Release
Rothwell Hauck Gallery is honoured to feature two talented Ottawa sculptors during the month of March – Rose Eleanor Milne and Janet MacKay. An Open House to meet and greet the artists will be held Sat. March 8th, 2008 between 10:00 – 4:00. This is an exciting and rare event that you definitely won’t want to miss.
Rose Eleanor Milne, Canada ’s Dominion Sculptor 1961 – 1993, will be exhibiting several one-of-a-kind bronze and stone sculptures. We will also be privileged to have Ms. Milne conduct a signing of her recent book
Captured in Stone, in which photographs accompany her description of the enormous undertaking of the stone-carved frieze she and her team produced in the lobby of the House of Commons. The book will be available for purchase, with the bonus of meeting and talking with Eleanor and a co-author of the book, Barbara Lambert. |

Painter, stained glass designer, artist in various other art forms, Rose Eleanor Milne’s accomplishments, awards and medals are too numerous to list here, but are highlighted in The Canadian Who’s Who 2007 edition. Living in the Glebe since 1975, her home was originally owned by her grandparents. |

| Janet MacKay, the other featured Ottawa sculptor during March, will be present at the March 8th Open House. Ms. MacKay will be showing her bronze sculpture series inspired by Wagner’s epic Opera “The Ring Cycle” depicting scenes and characters from the Opera and Mozart’s “Magic Flute”. Until last year, Janet MacKay held a position with the NCC as designer and project manager in addition to pursuing her passion as sculptor and painter. Free standing sculpture as well as wall sculpture will be the focus of her exhibit. These designs are unique and express the constant struggle and cycle of love and power, the end is the beginning and the beginning is the end. |
