Artist's Profile

As I was growing up my father was my greatest inspiration.  He spent his life traveling the world with a camera in his hand.  My inspiration continues today through the outstanding work of such wildlife photographers as Jonathan Scott of Kenya and the late Mohammed Amin of Tanzania who, besides his wildlife photography, is remembered as being one of the most influential African photojournalists who ever lived. Photojournalism freezes time allowing each of us an opportunity to personally examine and to come to our own conclusions about that precise moment when an image was created.  These wonderful photographers have taught us to slow down and study the world around us; not to simply pass through this life.  Our rewards come through the journey….not at the end of the road.

Donald G. Mahar

I have always been passionate about the experiences and opportunities I have had to photograph all manner of wildlife and the intrinsic beauty of nature which surrounds us.  I am also deeply motivated to photograph life's moments in this diverse world community we live in on this planet as the world evolves around us at an unstoppable pace.  Photography is not simply “taking pictures”; it is an art form where images are created through the eyes of someone who sees the world a little differently than others.
