Artist's Profile

Pierrette first studied visual arts in 1953 at the Ottawa Municipal art Center (now the Ottawa School of Art). She later attended the Schneider School of Art in Actinolite, Ontario and has studied with numerous renowned international artists. Since 1982 she has chosen watercolor as the medium best suited to capture the moods and subtleties of our grand Canadian landscape where she is often seen painting on location. Recent eye surgery necessitating the use of prism eyewear did not hinder her creativity but sparked a new and exciting direction. Pierrette has been featured in many publications including the Financial Post, as well as on television. She has won a number of prestigious awards and her work can be found in many public and private collections around the world.

On choisit d’accepter ce que la vie nous offre ou de le rejeter.  À cause de restrictions physiques,  j’admire tout ce qui s’anime autour de moi par la complexité de verres prismatiques.  J’emplois intentionnellement des éclaboussements de couleurs sur mes toiles afin de régénérer une vision claire qui m’offre ainsi qu’aux admirateurs de mon art, une lueur d’espoir.

Étant donné que je préfère peindre sur place, la dynamique des activités retrouvées  sur ma ferme est un microcosme de tout ce qui est enchanteur et amusant dans mon univers.

Pierrette Dulude-Bohay

Serenity, beauty, humour, joy, calm and mystery: For me, these are the very elements of nature translate into a prism of dimensional colours, just as our lives contain depths that render our capacities of understanding.  Due to physical constraints, I see all of life through the complications of prismed eyewear.  I use deliberate splashes of watercolour to regenerate a clear vision that provides me and viewers with hope.  I prefer to paint on-location, and today the activities in my own barnyard are a microcosm of all that is delightful, and amusing in my world.

~Ma vision est de partager avec le monde l’union de la sérénité, la beauté, l’humour, la joie, le calme et le mystère, des éléments que je retrouve dans la nature.  Cette batterie d’éléments de la nature se traduit en un prisme de couleurs de plusieurs dimensions, telle que notre vie affective nous donne la capacité de comprendre.
