JUNE 1-30

JEANNIE POLISUK

Since 2000, Jeannie’s work has involved the creation of conceptual based art that explores social construction and gender roles, identity, memory, and the human experience. She combines materials such as acrylic, oil, wax and resin through a process of many layers, attempting to reach something that is tangible and real, ambiguous and unexplainable. Through a combination of media including photography, drawing, collage and painting, her work focuses on de-constructing false realities that exist within fairy tales and nursery rhymes, media representation and popular culture, and the imagined spaces that permeate our childhood and adult culture. Throughout her body of work, she attempts to scratch beneath the surface veneer to explore the complexities of the human experience and psyche, which is at times ineffable
